Who Are The Legion Of Lunatics?
« on: January 13, 2009, 16:46:34 »

The Legion of Lunatics is an international guild focusing on PvE raiding on World of Warcraft. We were founded in June 2005, making us one of europe's oldest established WoW's guilds, which is a tradition we're quite proud of. Other guilds have at times had better progress -- and have long disbanded or disappeared, while we remain strong and keep playing.

The Legion of Lunatics is primary a community primarily consisted of Greek ethnicity players and international players alike. We are a broad age group where several of our guildmates are students, many are university graduates and quite a few are in their thirties or more. As such, we are quite understanding of the need to have compromises between playing the game and living our lives -- no one will complain because a guild member has to leave when it's late, or cannot show up for a raid due to working overtime.

Our normal playing times usually start at around 19:30 server time and the standard raids end around 11:30 server time; we will often go past that if the raid leader requests it and enough people are interested in staying late to kill a particular boss, but it's expected that members having to leave earlier than that inform their class and/or raid leader at the beginning of the raid.

We raid around three to four times a week based on the farm status of the game's instances at any given point; for example in Wrath of the Lich King since Naxxramas, Malygos and Sertharion are on farm, we take three nights at the most. When a new boss refuses to die, we normally schedule (and prioritize) more raids accordingly. Ten-man content is raided on an informal basis, and heroics are left entirely to our members; while we encourage in-guild groups, that's in no way a requirement.

The Legion of Lunatics employ the EPGP loot distribution system to determine who gets what item. EPGP is based on the concept of Effort Points and Gear Points. Effort Points quantify the effort each member put towards the (common) guild goals and Gear Points quantify what each member got back in return. Loot priority is computed as the quotient of the two; priority (PR) is equal to EP/GP. If you are interested, take a look at http://code.google.com/p/epgp/wiki/WhatIsEPGP_v2 which describes this system in detail.

Our requirements for membership are less about an applicant's class or spec and more about their personality. While strict demands must be met for a member to be eligible for raids, we do have 'social' ranks where friends, family and simply nice people are invited to be part of our community. Likewise a member may be disbarred or kicked without warning based on behavior issues -- such as racism, consistently using bad language, inappropriate in-game behavior such as ninja looting, etc.

For those wishing to join as raiders, there is an application form (a sticky post in this forum). It's not optional, and it's not just there to be filled out in the most laconic way possible. Applicants should realize it's our first impression of them, and the more we know the greater their chances of being invited. So if we ask for example "have you played other MMOs?" one could simple answer "Everquest lvl 30 rogue" and make us yawn, or he/she could tell us about how long they played, why they stopped, if they were part of any notable accomplishments or guilds there, etc.

During raids there are similarly specific criteria we consider important. In order to show our teammates some respect, we do our best to show up on time and not just wait in Ironforge for a summon (unless there's a reason and it doesn't happen consistently). We enchant all our epic gear, even if we're sure it'll be upgraded soon. We have foods and elixirs for farm status content and flasks for bosses yet to be killed. We never go AFK without letting a class and/or raid leader know in advance. We read about strategies in our free time  and don't just show up expecting Ntrash to explain everything in his feminine little girl voice. Such things are merely common sense, and are included here to show we don't expect people to sacrifice their firstborn children to raid with the Legion of Lunatics -- only to respect their time, and the time of everyone else.

If you have any questions, concerns or complaints please consult any guild officer. Any guild member can direct you to one online, but Xaxades and Hypatia have no life and thus will normally be online to handle such issues.

Thanks for reading!
